Motion paths!
You can now animate your components with motion paths! Make your content come alive by adding custom motion paths to your components while still retaining the existing animation presets. So you can fade in and move along a path at the same time.
Perfect paths
To add a motion path to a component you need to press the "Add" button in the "Motion path" control in the component's settings menu. This will create a line that starts at the centre of the component and follows your mouse around the page. Click to add points to the path as required then press the "End Path" button under the component. You've just created a motion path!
Fine tune
Once your path has been created you can tweak the settings to get things working just how you want. You can set the following:
- Speed - how quickly (or slowly) the animation takes to complete in seconds (you can use decimals here too)
- Delay - how long to delay (in seconds) before the motion path is triggered. The default is 0 so it plays when the step starts or the component is shown.
- Repeat - how many times to play the path
- Easing - how the animation should ease in and out
- Direction - should the path play forwards, in reverse or alternate?
- Rotate with path? - should the component rotate in line with the path or not
- Maintain end? - should the component stay in the position at the end of the path when the path is complete?
- Smoothing - tweak this to smooth out the lines in the path
Play with actions
You can also trigger motion paths via the action editor with the new "play component motion path" action. This will play the path from the beginning even if repeat is set to zero. This enables you to have components stationary at the start of the step then trigger the path with an action.
Have fun playing with paths
We hope motion paths offer another way to add fun to your learning content, branching scenarios, scenario based activities or whatever you are using Yo Scenario for! Any feedback, please get in touch.
